Taking on a minimalist approach to interpreting geometric patterns, lines, dots and animal patterns, ceramic designer Yasemin Ugurlu describes her own style as energetic and modern. The designer who lets her unique, colourful and energetic perspective reflect on the works she creates continues to come up with designs inspired by her admiration for the colour combinations found in nature and life underwater.
Born and lived in Istanbul her entire life, for Yasemin Uğurlu, who studied Business Management at Bilkent University before obtaining her degree in Animation and Visual Effects from the Academy of Art University in 2012, encountering ceramics for the first time in an elective lesson at university turned out to be a milestone that transformed her life. Having set up her own pottery studio in 2020, the ceramic designer who predominantly focuses on producing dining table accessories on the potter’s wheel is making tables meet the energy of colours.
Entrepreneur Yasemin Uğurlu sums up her collection and brand by saying,“My admiration for colour combinations in nature and in particular life underwater, is my biggest source of inspiration. I like to interpret geometric patterns, lines, dots and animal patterns with a minimalist approach and reflect them onto my work. I strive to create continuously in order to transform everyday objects into something designed to bring pleasure to its users.” Even though she creates collections that are distinct from each other, when you bring each collection together, you end up with a special line that has its own internal harmony. Favouring a holistic approach while creating each of her collection, Yasemin Uğurlu both enables all her products to fit in with each other and creates a colour completion on dining tables.
